Falling gas prices slow Canada's inflation rate

Falling gas prices between September and October significantly slowed Canada's inflation rate last month.
StatsCan says the decline was primarily due to falling prices at the pumps, which were 13.4 per cent higher in September than they were in October.

OTTAWA -- Canadian gasoline prices are at their lowest level in 22 months, according to a weekly report released Tuesday.
MJ Ervin & Associates, a Calgary-based petroleum consultancy group, said the average price of regular gasoline in Canada is 85.4 cents a litre, down 3.3 cents from a week earlier. That's the cheapest recorded since an average of 84.1 cents a litre on Jan. 30, 2007.

Canada gas prices lowest since early 2007

OTTAWA -- The average price of gasoline in Canada is at its lowest level since early last year, according to a report released Tuesday.
MJ Ervin & Associates, the Calgary-based petroleum consultancy group, said the average retail rate for regular gasoline was 92.7 cents a litre, down 6.1 cents from a week earlier. Its weekly reports haven't shown an average that low since Feb. 20, 2007.

Gas prices continue downward trend to below $1 in much of country

TORONTO - Gasoline prices that hovered in the $1.40 a litre range during the summer are now below the $1 mark in many areas of the country.
Some retailers in eastern Ontario are selling gas Friday for as low as 83.4 cents a litre.

Calgary - Gasoline prices at city pumps have dropped below $1 per litre for the first time since the start of the year, encouraging some motorists to get behind the wheel of vehicles left in disuse over the summer.
